Information is available in the guidance office regarding the following scholarships.  Stop in today if you are interested. 

COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS

Ithaca College Park Scholar Awards—Full tuition scholarship for students entering the Roy H. Park School of Communications.  Deadline:  12/15/07

SUNY Albany—$1,000 a year for students participating in the UHS program.  You must meet certain other criteria.  Information available in the guidance office. 

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS

The Better Business Bureau Student of Integrity Award.  The BBB is looking for students who are their commitment to ethics.  Application available online at www.upstateny.bbb.org and in the guidance office.   Deadline:  1/14/08.

Gates Millennium Scholars—scholarships are awarded to student who are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic America and in need of financial aid.  Deadline 12/16/07.

Elks National Scholarships—- based on leadership and community service.  Deadline 1/11/08.

Elks Legacy Awards—you must be the child or grandchild of an Elk.  Deadline:  1/11/08

SCHOLARSHIPS THAT ARE STILL AVAILABLE:

Fireside Essay Scholarship—One essay from Catholic High will be submitted for this
 prestigious scholarship.  Award is based on an essay,
“How is your religious education influencing your life?”.  Submit your essay to the guidance office no later than Friday, November 9.  We have received no applications to date.

 ATT/BBB Science and Technology Scholarships—Deadline 1/10/08

HVCC Scholarships—Deadline:  2/22/08

REMINDERS

COLLEGE APPLICATIONS– Please try to submit your college applications prior to the Thanksgiving break.   Stop in if you have any questions.

SAT I, SAT II—The SAT I and SAT II are offered December 1 at several area high schools.  The registration deadline for the December test is Tuesday, October 30.   If you are applying to a very competitive college or university, they may require the SAT IIs. Check with your counselor today if you have any questions.

 College Visits,  InterviewsReminderNovember 12 is an excellent day to schedule college visits, interviews, etc.

FINANCIAL PLANNING—CCHS will host its annual college financial planning night on Wednesday, November 14, 7 PM in the Library.  It is strongly recommended that you and your parents attend this informative meeting.

 NCAA Forms—If you intend to play sports in college (or even think you might like to), you should register with the NCAA.  This must be done on-line at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.  Be careful to print out the release forms and submit them to the guidance office.  See your counselor if you have any questions.
