COLLEGE APPLICATIONS– The next deadline we’ll be working on is January 15, 2009. Please notify guidance of any January 15 applications (college or scholarships) no later than Monday, January 5, 2009. Do not wait for letters of recommendation or SAT scores to mail your applications. Stop in if you have any questions. GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS Lansingburgh Little League William J. VanPatten Sr. Scholarship—you must have been a registered player and graduate of the Lansingburgh Little League Program. Deadline: 3/11/2009. Tradition of Caring Nursing Scholarship—you must be pursuing a nursing or pre-nursing program in a community served by Newcomer Funeral homes. Deadline 1/31/09. Edith Grace Craig Reynolds Scholarship—you must be a resident of Rensselaer County or White Creek in Washington County. Deadline: March 1, 2009. CCHS has had winners in the past. COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP Russell
Sage College has new scholarships for students planning to study math, engineering and the
sciences. Applications are available in the
guidance office and at www.sage.edu/SIMETS. The FAFSA (Free application for Federal Student Aid) is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Forms should be completed and submitted as soon as possible after January 1, 2009. A worksheet your parents can use prior to completing the FAFSA on-line is available on that website. CAREFUL – you want the 2009-2010 FAFSA. If any of the colleges you’ve applied to require the PROFILE, forms are available online at www.collegeboard.com (click on “parent”, click on “pay for college”). Be certain you are on these official websites. There are many imitations. NCAA
Clearinghouse
applications should be completed by all seniors who think they might play sports in
college. This is done online at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net. Watch for two forms that are
printed out and brought to the guidance office to accompany the necessary transcripts.. |
