Clubs and Activities

Art Club

(7-12) The Art Club does a number of works within the community and around the school.

AV Club

(9-12) The AV club assists a faculty advisor in setting up the AV equipment for all clubs and activities.

Bloodmobile

(12) The Core Group for the bloodmobile is responsible for the recruitment of donors and assisting the Red Cross personnel.

Character Council

(7-12) An organization made up of students, faculty, administration and parents responsible for promoting the annual school theme. Activities are done that support the theme throughout the curriculum (ie: speaker series and Spring Fling Dinner for senior citizens in the local community).

Capital District High School Challenge

(7-12) Regional competition among local high schools. CCHS was the 2006 champion.

Future Business Leaders of America

(9-12) This business organization is open to students enrolled in business courses and emphasizes the different aspects of the business world in a hands-on approach.

GAEA

(7-12) Advocacy and action on important environmental issues.

Interclass Plays

(9-12) This event is held in the spring. Students prepare one act plays to compete for best play!

Key Club

(7-12) The Key Club participates in various community service projects. This popular club often leaves lasting memories for its members.

Mock Trial

(9-12) Competitive club where students participate in an imitation trial and compete against other local high schools.

Music Ministry

(7-12) The Music Ministry group provides music for all school liturgies.

NYS Math League

(9-12) Competitive club for students who excel in mathematics.

PASS

(9-12) This is a tutoring program where students who excel in a particular subject tutor students who are having difficulty. This is arranged through the Guidance Department.

Peer Leadership

(7-12) Peer leaders participate in workshops with younger students from surrounding schools where they role play and provide alternatives for students to deal with adolescent problems.

Science Bowl

(9-12) Sponsored by the Department of Energy and General Electric. A competition among other high schools within the field of science.

Spanish Club

(7-12) Open to students who have an interest in knowing more about authentic Spanish culture and want to participate in fun Spanish activities.

Students Against Destructive Decisions

(7-12) There is a Junior High and Senior High chapter of this organization. Students prepare a week of awareness and information in the month of October as well as other activities throughout the school year.

Ski Club

(7-12) The ski club takes six weekday trips to Jimminy Peak in the months of January and February.

Student Council

(7-12) There is a student council for the Junior High and for the High School. The Student Council is comprised of class representatives and elected officers. Elections are held in the fall (JH) and the spring (HS).
